About

William “Bill” Bradley is known both for his sporting career and his work in politics. As a basketball player, he starred at Princeton — where he was a collegiate standout, led the team to the Final Four and won the James E. Sullivan Award — and played professionally only for the New York Knicks, contributing to two NBA championships and scoring more than 9,200 points in his career.

After retiring from the court in 1977, Bradley moved into politics: a member of the Democratic Party, he was elected senator for New Jersey and served three terms from 1979 to 1997. His legislative work placed him among the party’s moderate voices in the 1980s and 1990s, and in 2000 he sought the Democratic presidential nomination.

In addition to being a politician and former athlete, Bradley is the author of several non‑fiction books and worked in the private sector as a corporate director and partner at an investment bank. He also hosted a national radio program, maintaining a public presence that links his athletic, intellectual and legislative experience to contemporary American debate.
