About

Carlos Frederico Werneck de Lacerda was a Brazilian journalist and politician.

He was a member of the National Democratic Union (UDN), city councilor (1945), federal deputy (1947–55) and governor of the state of Guanabara (1960–65). He founded the newspaper Tribuna da Imprensa in 1949 and established the publisher Nova Fronteira in 1965.

He became a communist activist, following in the footsteps of his father, Maurício de Lacerda, and his uncle Paulo Lacerda, former militants of the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB).
