Delfina González Valenzuela was one of four sisters known as Las Poquianchis, the group responsible for one of the largest and most shocking crime sprees in twentieth‑century Mexico. Operating between 1950 and 1964, the sisters ran an extensive enterprise of sexual exploitation and murder at what became known as Rancho El Ángel, where dozens of bodies were found; investigations identified at least 91 victims, with estimates exceeding 150 dead.

The González Valenzuela operation involved deceptively recruiting women, many of whom were forcibly addicted to narcotics to make them dependent and easier to control. When victims became ill, lost their looks, or ceased to be profitable, they were killed; clients who carried large sums of money were also targeted. The case exposed brutal practices and local networks of impunity that allowed the crimes to continue for years.

Tried in 1964, the sisters received lengthy prison sentences; accounts indicate that Delfina died while serving her sentence as the result of a prison accident. The episode shocked Mexican society and inspired literary and film works, establishing the group as a symbol of violence against women and large‑scale sexual exploitation.
