About

Eugene Frederick of Württemberg was a German nobleman of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, a member of the House of Württemberg. Born to the ducal family, he was the son of Duke Frederick II Eugene and Margravine Frederica of Brandenburg‑Schwedt, and the brother of prominent European figures of the time, including the future King Frederick I of Württemberg and two sisters who married sovereigns of Russia and the Habsburg Empire. His family position placed him within the dynastic circle that shaped alliances between the German states and imperial courts of that period.

In 1787 he married Princess Louise of Stolberg‑Gedern, widow of a Duke of Saxe‑Meiningen; the marriage produced five children and established important dynastic branches, with descendants who married into royal and noble houses of Germany. Although no specific governmental offices are mentioned in the provided text, his standing places him as a notable figure within the aristocratic network that influenced policy and marital connections among European courts.

His legacy is chiefly genealogical and dynastic: through marriages and offspring he helped sustain ties between royal houses and to consolidate Württemberg’s position among the German states prior to unification.
