About

Eileen Fulton, stage name of Margaret Elizabeth McLarty, was an American actress, singer and author whose career was defined by the role of Lisa Grimaldi on the soap opera As the World Turns. She played the popular and often antagonistic figure for nearly five decades, becoming synonymous with the character and establishing herself as one of the major stars of American daytime television. Her long-running presence earned industry recognition, including a lifetime achievement salute at the Daytime Emmys.

Beyond television, Fulton had a significant stage career, appearing in the original Broadway production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and in other New York theatre productions, alternating live performances with her broadcast commitments. She also pursued a musical career, performing cabaret numbers in theatres in New York and Los Angeles.

The author of memoirs and fiction, she wrote autobiographies and a series of crime novels set in the entertainment world. Her career is remembered for the longevity of her central role in one of the most influential soap operas in U.S. pop culture, for advocating professional boundaries for female characters, and for her legacy in daytime television drama.
