About

Herb Alpert is an American musician and record executive, best known as leader and trumpet player of Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass. Across the 1960s and 1970s he became a central figure in instrumental pop, placing numerous albums on the Billboard charts and scoring hits such as “The Lonely Bull,” which helped define his sound with melodic arrangements and Latin influences.

Beyond his work as a performer and arranger, Alpert co‑founded the A&M Records label with Jerry Moss and played an important role in the music industry by signing and producing artists for the label. His work earned both critical and commercial recognition: multiple gold and platinum albums, eight Grammy Awards, and worldwide sales reaching tens of millions of copies.

In Brazil, his arrangements and productions influenced local artists of the 1960s, with a noted connection between the repertoire of Chris Montez and figures such as Wilson Simonal. Alpert’s discography includes emblematic titles like Whipped Cream & Other Delights and Rise, which established his legacy in the field of popular instrumental music.
