About
Jacqueline Joubert was one of the pioneers of French television, first rising to prominence as a speakerine and presenter between 1949 and 1967. Noted for her precise diction and a style that modernized how presenters addressed the public, she abandoned traditional farewell formulas and introduced more colloquial, warm expressions. She quickly expanded her role, directing and hosting variety shows, including Rendez Vous avec…, which introduced performers such as Dalida and Charles Aznavour.
In the 1960s she also worked as a producer and director, later taking on leadership positions in the variety departments and, from 1973, heading the children’s programming unit at Antenne 2. In that role she helped launch talent and programs with wide popular reach—such as Récré A2—and brought in series and content that shaped the childhood of several generations.
Her career of more than four decades spanned television, cinema and theatre; she also worked as a director of fictions jeunesse and authored works in family collaborations. A key figure in French audiovisual history, her legacy endures both through format innovation and through the presenters and artists she helped reveal, who went on to shape the country’s television culture.
