Jorge Eduardo Guinle, better known as Jorginho Guinle, was a Brazilian socialite, playboy, and millionaire heir, notable for his romantic conquests and financial ruin.
After having spent almost all his assets, estimated at about 100 million dollars, on parties, travel and women, Guinle died at the age of 88, living, by the courtesy of his new owners, at the Copacabana Palace hotel. The hotel had been founded by his uncle, Octávio, in 1923. Proudly declaring that he had never worked in his life, Jorginho published an autobiography whose title summed up his way of living: 'Um Século de Boa Vida'. He married four times, having three children from three of those marriages.
Because of his presence in high society around the world, he was invited to be an informal ambassador of Brazil to the United States, at the request of the Department of Press and Propaganda during the Vargas dictatorship, and to serve as a representative for 'South American affairs' in Hollywood, at the request of Nelson Rockefeller.
He was a great enthusiast of jazz and, for that reason, authored the first work in Brazil on the musical style.
