About

Jules Bianchi was a French racing driver whose career rose through the junior categories until he reached Formula 1 with the Marussia team. First revealed in karting and successful in junior single-seaters — including titles and podiums in series such as Formula Renault, the Formula 3 Euro Series, and a strong spell in GP2 — Bianchi joined the Ferrari Driver Academy and drew attention for the potential that marked him as a prospect for larger teams.

In the 2014 season, Bianchi gained notoriety by scoring Marussia’s first-ever points when he finished ninth at the Monaco Grand Prix, a result celebrated by his team and the media. His technical and consistent driving in the intermediate categories projected him as a possible future Ferrari driver.

The accident he suffered at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka was decisive for his legacy: severely injured after colliding with a recovery vehicle on a wet track, Bianchi remained in critical condition until his death in July 2015. The incident prompted debate about safety procedures and contributed to changes and the implementation of measures in Formula 1 in subsequent years.

His death moved the motor racing community, led to the symbolic retirement of his race number, and influenced discussions and advances in safety within the sport.
