About

Linda Gray is an American actress whose career gained international prominence with her portrayal of Sue Ellen Ewing on the television series Dallas. She began as a model in the 1960s — at one point lending her legs to a poster for the film The Graduate — before moving into television and TV movies. Her performance as Sue Ellen, a character defined by alcoholism, brought critical recognition, a Golden Globe nomination, and made the character's name a cultural reference in the United States.

Although originally invited for only a few episodes, Gray remained with the show until 1989 and later reprised the role in subsequent versions and reunions, including the television continuation of Dallas released decades later. After the series' success, she appeared in numerous television and stage productions, notably Melrose Place (1994), West End appearances such as Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate (2001), and theatrical tours in the United Kingdom.

In addition to acting, Gray worked in TV films and short films and engaged in humanitarian work, including participation in a documentary on women’s and children’s health and serving as an ambassador connected to international organizations. Her career combines television visibility and theatrical presence, establishing a lasting television legacy.
