About

Manolo Hidalgo, stage name of Víctor Manuel Hidalgo Tarazona, is a Peruvian musician and composer best known for his role as lead guitarist of the band Libido. A central figure in the group's founding in the mid-1990s, he contributed compositions that became staples of their repertoire, including “Mal tiempo,” “La casa de los gritos,” and the title track “Libido.”

With Libido he took part in the band's debut recording in 1998 and in subsequent albums that established them within Spanish-language rock. The second record, Hembra (2000), and the third, Pop*Porn (2002), brought the band international attention and led to awards at the MTV Video Music Awards Latinoamérica.

In addition to studio albums, Hidalgo recorded notable live releases, such as Libido acústica (2004) and a live session collaboration with Salim Vera (2014). His career is tied to the Peruvian rock scene of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, characterized by original songwriting and recognition through regional awards.
