About

Marcello Lippi is an Italian football coach whose career is notable for achievements with both club sides and national teams. A former defender, he began his coaching career in Italian football and rose to national prominence by managing clubs such as Napoli and, above all, Juventus, where he won multiple domestic and European titles, including the 1996 UEFA Champions League and several scudetti.

As head coach of the Italian national team, Lippi reached the pinnacle by leading Italy to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, earning praise for his tactical flexibility and his ability to integrate players such as Andrea Pirlo and Francesco Totti. His time with the Azzurri also included controversy, notably criticism after the 2010 World Cup cycle when the team’s performance was disappointing.

At club level internationally, Lippi was among the first coaches to win both the European Champions League and the AFC Champions League in Asia, enjoying further success with Guangzhou Evergrande, with whom he won domestic and continental titles. Regarded as one of the most successful coaches of his generation, his legacy combines elite results, tactical adaptability, and influence on generations of players.
