Olivier Nakache is a French filmmaker who works as a director, screenwriter and producer, known for his long-standing artistic partnership with Éric Toledano. Together they have made short and feature films that move between popular comedy and social drama, building a body of work focused on portrayals of working-class life, human relationships and contemporary issues.
The duo gained international recognition with Intouchables (2011), an adaptation of a true story that became one of the biggest hits in French cinema, launching actor Omar Sy to stardom and earning widespread audience praise and awards. Before that success, they wrote and directed popular French comedies such as Nos jours heureux (2006) and Tellement proches (2009).
After Intouchables, Toledano and Nakache continued to explore social themes in films like Samba (2014) and Hors normes (2019), and expanded into television with the series En thérapie (2021), a French adaptation that established the pair in the serialized format as well. Nakache’s career combines commercial success with a sensitivity to human stories, leaving a mark on contemporary popular French cinema.
