About

Patrick Ewing is a Jamaican-American former basketball player and coach, widely regarded as one of the greatest centers in history. He became the pivotal figure for the New York Knicks, the franchise where he spent most of a 17-year professional career, earning eleven All-Star selections, seven All-NBA honors, and having his number 33 retired by the Knicks in 2003. Under his leadership the team reached the NBA Finals in 1994 and 1999.

A graduate of Georgetown, Ewing excelled in college basketball, guiding the Hoyas to three NCAA championship games and winning the national title in 1984. At the height of his career he also played on the United States Olympic teams that won gold in 1984 and 1992, the latter as a member of the legendary "Dream Team"—with which he was later celebrated in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Beyond his playing days, Ewing remained in the sport as a coach and as an ambassador for the New York Knicks. His career and honors, including dual Hall of Fame inductions, reinforce his standing among the great centers and his influence on the history of modern basketball.
