About

Paul Molitor is a former American baseball player and manager, known for his rare combination of hitting ability and speed. Over a 21-season Major League Baseball career he played for the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins, compiling 3,319 hits—10th in MLB history—and ranking among the few players with more than 3,000 hits, a lifetime batting average above .300 and over 500 stolen bases.

He was noted as a clutch hitter: he holds the highest postseason batting average in league history (minimum 100 plate appearances), was a seven-time All‑Star and was named World Series MVP in 1993. In 1987 he recorded a 39-game hitting streak, one of the longest in modern baseball.

After hanging up his cleats, Molitor worked as a coach and later served as the Minnesota Twins’ manager from 2015 to 2018. In 2004 he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, a recognition of his longevity and impact despite spending part of his career as a designated hitter.

His career is remembered for offensive consistency, defensive versatility over many seasons and a legacy as one of the most complete players of his generation.
