Sir Peter Ustinov was an English actor, filmmaker, comedian and writer of international standing. Known for his dramatic range and wit, he appeared in more than 60 films and was notable for memorable roles such as Nero in Quo Vadis and the detective Hercule Poirot, and he won two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor for Spartacus (1960) and Topkapi (1965).

Alongside his film career, Ustinov worked actively as a playwright and author, publishing about 20 books, and he worked extensively in television and on the lecture circuit. His public presence and erudition made him a frequent guest on talk shows and at intellectual events.

In institutional spheres, he served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and chaired the World Federalist Movement, combining artistic work with diplomatic and humanitarian commitment. He also received three Emmys and a children’s Grammy, and in 1990 he was made a Knight Bachelor.

His legacy encompasses artistic output, cultural engagement and humanitarian action, establishing him as one of the most recognizable British figures of the twentieth century.
