About

Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia was a member of the Karađorđević House and a figure of the 20th‑century Yugoslav monarchy. The son of King Alexander I and Queen Maria, he was the brother of the last reigning king, Peter II, and spent his childhood between palaces and boarding schools in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. During World War II he remained in the United Kingdom, where he completed part of his studies at Cambridge.

With the abolition of the monarchy and the impossibility of returning to his country, Tomislav devoted himself to farming in England, specializing in apple cultivation and managing a large estate in West Sussex. His career illustrates the shift from a European prince to a rural landowner and agricultural entrepreneur in the postwar period.

He maintained ties with the Serbian diaspora and the Serbian Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom, taking part in the founding of community institutions and marrying twice. His public role combined his dynastic past with community work in exile, and his burial at Oplenac gathered many supporters, underscoring the family legacy and monarchist memory among Serbs.
