About

Randall W. Cunningham is a former NFL quarterback and current pastor, best known for 16 seasons as a player, most of them with the Philadelphia Eagles. Renowned for his mobility and improvisational skill, he was a four‑time Pro Bowl selection and, at retirement, ranked among quarterbacks with the most rushing yards in the league. In college he starred at UNLV, where he was an All‑American as a punter before being chosen in the second round of the 1985 draft.

In the 1980s and early 1990s he combined downfield passing with athleticism, leading the Eagles to division titles and producing memorable moments such as his performance in the playoff game known as the “Fog Bowl.” He suffered a serious knee injury in 1991 that reduced some of his explosiveness, but he returned to help the team earn its first playoff victory in more than a decade.

After a brief retirement and a productive comeback with Minnesota in 1998 — a season in which the team set a regular‑season scoring record and reached the conference championship game — he ended his career in reserve roles with Dallas and Baltimore. He later was ordained as a Protestant minister, served as a team chaplain, and was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
