About

Stanislas “Stan” Wawrinka is a Swiss professional tennis player known for the power of his serve and the strength of his backhand, nicknamed on the tour “Stan” or “Stanimal.” A professional since 2002, he established himself among the sport’s top players by winning three Grand Slam titles: the Australian Open (2014), Roland Garros (2015) and the US Open (2016). In each of those victories he beat opponents of the highest calibre, reinforcing his reputation as a player who can raise his level in decisive moments.

Beyond the Grand Slams, Wawrinka has won 18 ATP titles (16 in singles and 2 in doubles), claimed a Masters 1000 title (Monte Carlo, 2014) and was a key figure in Switzerland’s 2014 Davis Cup campaign. In 2008, alongside Roger Federer, he won the Olympic gold medal in doubles in Beijing, a milestone in his career.

Regarded by critics and peers as one of the most complete athletes on tour for his adaptability to different surfaces, Wawrinka has left a mark by combining power, mental resilience and performance in major tournaments. Off the court, his personal background — with family roots in Central Europe and involvement in community projects linked to the family farm — is part of his public profile.
