Suzanne Gabriello

About

Suzanne Gabriello (born Suzanne Galopet) was a French actress and singer known for her humor and musical parody. The daughter of actor and chansonnier André Gabriello, she rose to prominence in the 1950s–1970s by turning well-known songs into sharp satires that ranged from social customs to political figures, earning her a place in the repertoire of French comic music.

In the 1960s she joined the trio Les Filles à Papa and became a regular presence on French television, especially in children’s programs such as Ohé jeudi!, where she popularized songs built on children’s phrases and questions. Her career also included work in film and theatre, with credits in movies and stage productions from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Over the course of her career she recorded parodies of hits by artists such as Nino Ferrer, Georges Brassens, Pierre Perret and Charles Aznavour, and remained active on concert bills and galas. In the later decades of her life she took part in the artistic group Nevada and continued to perform at regional events. She is remembered for her satirical wit and her ability to turn popular repertoire into good-humored social commentary.
