The passage below was taken from the site of the ABA - Brazilian Association of Astrology (in Portuguese)
The Lunar Nodes are not of great importance, and the information about them always points to unprepared people addressing the subject, especially on the internet, a chaotic arsenal.
The Lunar Nodes are the orbital nodes of the Moon, that is, the points where the orbit of the Moon crosses the ecliptic (which is the apparent Earth-Sun orbit across the firmament).
The ascending node is where the Moon crosses to the north of the ecliptic. The descending node is where they cross to the south. This is the Draconic Zodiac, and as in every zodiac the archetype of the 12 signs is the same, and that is what you should reason from.
Eclipses only occur near the lunar nodes: solar eclipses happen when the passage of the Moon through a node coincides with the new moon; lunar eclipses happen when the passage coincides with the full moon.
A lunar eclipse can happen if the full moon is within 11° 38’ of a node, and a solar eclipse can happen if the new moon is within 17° 25’ of a node. Look up the position of the Sun and the Moon in the Ephemeris and their distance from the nodes, and you will know when there will be an Eclipse.
The Lunar Node precesses relatively fast around the ecliptic, completing one revolution (called draconic, or the nodal period, the period of nutation) in 6793.5 days, or 18.5996 years.
As a consequence, when the Moon crosses the orbit of the Earth from South to North it is the North Node, which is the Aries point of that draconic zodiac; when it crosses on the opposite side it is the South Node, which is the equivalent of Libra in the draconic zodiac. True interpretation has to be based on this, and not on speculation.
Astronomical ignorance of this phenomenon has led poorly prepared Astrologers to speculate the most erroneous interpretations. In general they speak of the Nodes, but in reality they do not even know what they are about, and they go chasing all kinds of astrological nonsense. The blind leading the blind.
Always interpret the North Node with the nature of Aries, and the South Node with the nature of Libra.
