Audree Wilson

About

Audree Wilson (born Audree Neva Korthof) was a central figure in the family that produced the Beach Boys, known for her role as a mother and for the domestic life that shaped her sons’ artistic environment. An amateur pianist and a singer at school events, Audree helped shape the musical formation of her sons Brian, Dennis and Carl by encouraging home music practice and family gatherings around the family organ.

Married to Murry Wilson, she remained a family anchor through decades marked by financial hardship and intimate conflicts. Her daily work—musical support, childcare and household management—created the setting in which the boys developed the vocal and harmonic skills that became essential to the band’s career.

Although less publicly visible than her husband, Audree appears in biographical accounts as an influential presence within the family and in the boys’ development as musicians. Because of her importance in the private sphere, she is remembered chiefly for the support and encouragement she provided to her sons’ early careers.
