About

C. S. Lewis (Clive Staples Lewis) was a university professor, essayist, literary critic, and novelist born in Belfast, whose work encompasses both scholarly erudition and imaginative literature. He became a leading figure in medieval and Renaissance literary studies with works such as The Allegory of Love, and held chairs at Oxford and Cambridge, where he established a reputation as an influential teacher in the twentieth century.

Alongside his academic career, he distinguished himself as a writer of Christian apologetics, publishing influential books such as The Problem of Pain, Miracles, and Mere Christianity. His conversion to Christianity and subsequent intellectual defense of the faith brought him wide attention, especially during and after World War II.

In fiction, he achieved international fame with The Chronicles of Narnia and the Space Trilogy, as well as satirical and philosophical titles like The Screwtape Letters. His intellectual companionship with authors such as J. R. R. Tolkien and his participation in the group The Inklings influenced both his creative output and critical reception.

Lewis’s legacy remains twofold: as a respected scholar of the literary tradition and as an author able to integrate fantasy, theology, and moral reflection, maintaining a continuous presence in contemporary literary and religious culture.
