Edward G. Robinson, birth name Emmanuel Goldenberg, was a Romanian-born naturalized American film actor, who became notable in films such as Alma no lodo,1931; Paixões em fúria,1948; A mesa do diabo,1965.

He was the first Hollywood actor to achieve success playing tough-guy roles, a style later followed by James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart, for example.
