About

Ferruccio Amendola was an actor and one of the most influential Italian dubbing directors and voice actors of the 20th century. Born into a family of performers, he made his stage debut as a child and worked in film and television while maintaining a long parallel career as a professional voice. From the late 1940s he focused on dubbing, which would make him widely known.

Amendola became the regular Italian voice for major international stars such as Robert De Niro, Sylvester Stallone and Dustin Hoffman, and also lent his tone to Al Pacino, Tomas Milian and Bill Cosby in iconic roles. His work helped establish the practice of dubbing in Italy and gave interpretive unity to foreign characters in the Italian audiovisual market.

He also remained visible on screen and in advertising, reaching audiences through TV series and commercial spots. In 1994 he left the historic dubbing studio where he had worked for decades and founded his own company, remaining active until the end of his life.

Amendola’s legacy lies in his influence on generations of dubbers and in the way he crafted distinctive vocal characters, contributing to the reception of international cinema in Italy.
