About

Greg Morris was an American actor, best known for his role as Barney Collier on the television series Mission: Impossible (1966–1973) and for playing Lieutenant David Nelson on Vega$ (1978–1981). His television career began in the 1960s with appearances on programs such as The Twilight Zone, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, and Channing, and he became a familiar presence in series and entertainment shows.

Born in Cleveland and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Morris developed an interest in the arts while at university, acting in theatre and hosting a jazz program on the college radio station. In professional theatre, one of his early roles was in The Death of Bessie Smith.

Also known for his playful spirit behind the scenes, Morris was one of the few actors to remain with Mission: Impossible for the show’s entire original run. After the series ended, he continued to work regularly in television and film, including a role in the Mission: Impossible remake starring his son Phil Morris.

He died in 1996 of cancer, remembered as one of the prominent African American actors on American television from the 1960s through the 1980s.
