Lyndon Brook

About

Lyndon Brook was a British film, television and stage actor, born into a family already established in the profession — the son of actors Clive Brook and Mildred Evelyn and the brother of actress Faith Brook. Trained on the English stage, he was best known for his work in British productions, with a modest but steady film career from 1949 to 1985 that included notable appearances in war films and dramas such as Reach for the Sky, The Longest Day and Plenty.

On stage he took part in both classical and modern repertory productions in the late 1940s and early 1950s, appearing in plays by Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw alongside leading figures such as Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, and even bringing some of those roles to New York in a Broadway run. On television he maintained a regular presence between 1950 and 1981, making dozens of appearances in popular series of the period, including episodes of Chapeau melon et bottes de cuir and historical adaptations such as I, Claudius.

His career shows a versatile actor whose work spanned film, theatre and television series, contributing to the postwar British artistic scene and leaving a body of supporting and repertory roles that reflected his family’s theatrical and cinematic tradition.
