Earvin "Magic" Johnson Jr. is a former American basketball player who played as a point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Johnson is considered by some to be the greatest point guard in NBA history, having won the league title five times and being named its Most Valuable Player in three seasons. His NBA career was immortalized by his inclusion on the list of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (50 Maiores Jogadores da História da NBA) and by his induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Johnson retired abruptly in 1991 after announcing that he had contracted HIV, but he returned to play in the All-Star Game, receiving the game's Most Valuable Player award.
