Mahatma Gandhi

About

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, more popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi (from Sanskrit "Mahatma", "The Great Soul") was the architect and founder of the modern Indian state and the foremost advocate of Satyagraha (the principle of non-aggression, a non-violent form of protest) as a means of revolution.

The principle of satyagraha, often translated as "the path of truth" or "the pursuit of truth", also inspired generations of democratic and anti-racist activists, including Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela.
