About

Marion Bartoli is a former French professional tennis player whose career was notable for an unconventional playing style and strong Grand Slam results. Known for using both hands on her forehand and backhand, she won ten WTA titles—seven in singles and three in doubles—and broke into the world top 10, reaching No. 7 in January 2012 and again in July 2013.

Her best-known achievement was winning the 2013 Wimbledon singles title, having been runner-up there in 2007; in that 2013 run she became one of the few players in the Open Era to win the tournament without dropping a set. Over her career she also reached the semifinals at Roland Garros (2011) and made the quarterfinals at all four majors, demonstrating consistency across different surfaces.

Trained rigorously from adolescence by her father, Bartoli developed an aggressive, adaptable game. Her presence on the tour in the 2000s and early 2010s helped renew French women’s tennis, leaving a legacy of technical originality and strong performances on big stages.
