About

Nat Faxon is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and director, best known for his work in independent film and television. He gained critical and institutional recognition when he co-wrote the screenplay for The Descendants (2011) with Jim Rash — a collaboration that earned them the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, along with several awards and nominations from critics’ groups. That success established Faxon as a writer able to balance comedy and drama in family-centered stories.

Alongside his writing, Faxon has maintained a career as a performer in series and feature films. He appeared in television shows such as Grosse Pointe and Friends from College, and has lent his voice to animated characters in Disenchantment and recent animated films. In cinema he alternates supporting roles in comedies and dramas, working with both independent and studio filmmakers.

In creative partnership with Jim Rash, Faxon also directed The Way, Way Back (2013), expanding his behind-the-scenes role beyond screenwriting. His career is marked by versatility across acting, writing, and directing, with critical recognition that has highlighted his impact on the contemporary film scene.
