About

Augusta of Württemberg was a princess by birth and, from 1851 by marriage, a member of the House of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. The youngest daughter of King William I of Württemberg and Princess Pauline, she was chiefly notable for her position within the dynastic network of 19th‑century German states, linking two important royal houses of southern and central Germany.

She married Prince Hermann of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, a cavalry officer who rose to high military rank before turning to patriotic and artistic pursuits in Stuttgart. The couple had several children, among them Karl August and William, whose descendants and marital alliances extended the family's influence at German courts.

Although she is not known for major public works or initiatives, Augusta lived at the Weimar palace, a recognized center of German cultural life, and fulfilled the customary role of princesses of her time: reinforcing dynastic ties, managing the household, and supporting the social and cultural milieu associated with her family.
