Rita Hayworth

About

Rita Hayworth was an American actress of Hispanic-Irish descent who reached her peak in the 1940s and became an eternal film icon.

Her reputation as the decade's biggest star and as one of the most desired and famous women in the world was consolidated when she starred, at the height of her beauty, in the classic noir Gilda (Gilda, 1946), also by Vidor. Rita's striking, albeit very brief, striptease (in fact the striptease is suggested, since she only removes the long glove from one arm) and the slap she receives from Ford helped boost the film's huge worldwide box office.
