About

Roy Horn, born Uwe Ludwig Horn, was a German–American performer best known as half of the duo Siegfried & Roy. Working as an animal trainer and onstage partner, he became known for integrating big cats—particularly white tigers—into magic shows, a feature that defined his public image and made the duo an emblematic Las Vegas attraction.

Over several decades, Siegfried & Roy built a stage career with enormous commercial and cultural impact, maintaining a long residency at the Mirage where they performed thousands of shows and held multimillion-dollar contracts. Their work blended traditional magic with the handling of exotic animals, producing lavish numbers that drew huge audiences and helped shape the visual style of casino entertainment.

In 2003 the duo’s career was abruptly halted by an onstage accident that left Roy seriously injured and ended their regular performances. Nonetheless, their legacy remains visible in Las Vegas’s collective memory, in philanthropic projects connected to entertainment, and in popular culture references.

Roy died in 2020 in Las Vegas; his career is remembered as that of a performer who brought animal acts to an international stage, prompting both admiration and debate about risks and animal welfare.
