About

Adelmo Fornaciari, better known as Zucchero, is an Italian singer, songwriter and musician whose work blends blues, soul, gospel and rock with Mediterranean traditions. Regarded by many as the “father of Italian blues,” he became known for bringing the genre to major national stages and for building a solid international career over four decades.

His repertoire alternates Italian-language ballads with rhythmic R&B and boogie numbers; hits such as “Diamante,” “Baila (Sexy Thing)” and the duet “Senza una donna” with Paul Young made him known beyond Italy’s borders. Over the course of his career he has sold tens of millions of records and received multiple awards, including World Music Awards and a Grammy nomination.

He has collaborated with renowned rock and blues artists — among them Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, B.B. King and Andrea Bocelli — underscoring his prestige and musical versatility. His legacy is tied both to spreading the blues in Italy and to his ability to integrate African American musical sounds into Italian popular singing, influencing later generations of musicians.
