About

Ronnie Corbett was a Scottish comedian and actor whose career on British television made him a recognizable figure in popular culture. He began acting after moving from Edinburgh to London, taking small roles in the early days of television and in film, and came to prominence as part of the cast of the satirical programme The Frost Report, where he formed a creative partnership with Ronnie Barker.

That collaboration matured into The Two Ronnies (1971–1987), a BBC sketch series that introduced him to a wide audience: alongside the duets with Barker, Corbett became known for his armchair monologues — seemingly rambling comic pieces that played on his modest presence and self-deprecation. At the same time he starred in sitcoms such as No – That's Me Over Here! and Sorry!, the latter remembered for his portrayal of a man dominated by his mother.

Over several decades he also worked in theatre, radio and film, appearing in a range of productions and remaining present in television programmes and campaigns until the end of his professional life. His signature—comic timing, narrative voice and ability to stretch small gags—influenced generations of British comedians and secured a lasting legacy in television comedy.
